Christian Suffering! Part One.

It's part of the Christian life, Philippians chapter 1 verse 29:

For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake.

it identifies you with Christ, Philippians chapter 3 verse 10:

That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.

It's part of the price you pay for living a holy life, Second Timothy chapter 3 verses 10 through 12:

But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, long-suffering, charity, patience, persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

It connects us with the saints of all ages, James chapter 5 verses 10 and 11:

Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.
