Developing An Appetite For God's Word!
Text: Matthew chapter 5 verse 6:
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
Introduction: I know that I need god's word, but how do I develop a desire for it?
Requirement: You have to know god before you have a desire for his word.
Process: Developing an appetite for god's word involves a three step process.
Step one: Acknowledge that God's word is true.
Psalm 119 verse 160: Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever.
Step two: Admit that God's word is good for you.
Jeremiah chapter 15 verse 16: Thy words were found, and I did eat them; and thy word was unto me the joy and rejoicing of mine heart: for I am called by thy name, O LORD God of hosts.
Step three: Avail yourself of god's word daily, no matter what you have to do.
Psalm 119 verse 97: O how love I thy law! It is my meditation all the day.
Conclusion: After developing a hearty appetite for god's word, our conclusion will be like that of Job.
Chapter 23 verse 12: I have esteemed the words of thy mouth more than my necessary food.
