Don't Be Ashamed Of Jesus!

Mark chapter 8 verse 38:

Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

Three instances of being ashamed are mentioned here:

  1. Being ashamed of Jesus.
  2. Being ashamed of the word of the Lord.
  3. Having Him be ashamed of us.

Being ashamed of Jesus involves:

  1. Being ashamed of His person, who He is.
  2. Being ashamed of His position, what He is.
  3. Being ashamed of His power, what He can do.

Being ashamed of the Lord's word involves:

  1. Being ashamed of His promises.
  2. Being ashamed of His purity.

There is a great temptation in the midst of this sinful and adulterous generation in which we live to be ashamed of Jesus.

We cannot afford to be ashamed of Jesus now.

He certainly doesn't want to be ashamed of us when He comes back.

Being popular with the crowd now might mean eternity with them in hell.
Standing up for Jesus now will mean eternal bliss with Him, the Father, and the holy angels.
