LORD LIGHTNING!

Judges chapter 1 verses 5, 6, and 7:

And they found Adoni-bezek in Bezek: and they fought against him, and they slew the Canaanites and the Perizzites. But Adoni-bezek fled; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his great toes. And Adoni-bezek said, Threescore and ten kings, having their thumbs and their great toes cut off, gathered their meat under my table: as I have done, so God hath requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

Overview: The name Adoni-bezek means Lord Lightning. This little story about him causes us to ask three simple questions.

1. Are you living the life you want to live?
2. Are you letting your light shine, someone to lift?
3. Are you leaving the kind of legacy which would make you proud, if someone else sought in a similar way to lead?

Conclusion: Chickens came home to roost for old Lord Lightning. He was paid back for his sin and died in it. Let us take a lesson from him, and bless others with our godly influence instead!
