WHAT PEOPLE SAY ABOUT PENTECOST!
Various verses from Acts chapter 2 will show us that things people of the world say about the Pentecostal experience are not much different now than in Bible days.
Verses 7 and 8:
And they were all amazed and marveled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galileans? And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?
Verse 11b, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of god.
Verses 12 and 13:
And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one to another, What meaneth this? Others mocking said, These men are full of new wine.
Verse 37:
Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, What shall we do?
What people say about Pentecost can be wrapped up in three statements:
- They were confounded about the tongues.
- They were concerned about the meaning.
- They were confused about the manifestations.
You can mock it, you can deny it, but God wants you to receive it.
For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. verse 39.
